SS1: Optimization of the use of blood components within the hospital: strategies and trendsBlood components are scarce products which are used in many life-threatening conditions. All of them have approved indications which try to optimise their use and therapeutic benefit, however, audits and surveys demonstrate that they are not always used as indicated. Do we have enough guidelines? How can we set up a program to audit our current use of blood components and help us in implementing new product saving strategies? Are we aware of alternative therapies, which could result in an optimised treatment?
